Krim, Györ and Brest remain unbeaten, CSM earn hard-fought win
The EHF Champions League Women 2024/25 round 3 threw off with five exciting clashes. Krim Mercator grabbed their third win in a row as their back court players were almost unstoppable against CS Gloria 2018 BN. Buducnost were close to celebrating in Denmark as they made Odense Håndbold sweat, but the Danish side showed better focus in crunch time.
Brest made the biggest comeback of the day and defeated Esbjerg in the closing minutes, keeping their record clean. Györi Audi ETO KC joined them in a perfect run following a clear win against Vipers, while CSM avoided a defeat against Podravka Vegeta with the help of their star player Cristina Neagu and goalkeeper Gabriela Moreschi.
I would like to congratulate Krim for their victory. They have a strong team with a lot of experience. We fought until the end and I am very proud of my team. Krim was the better team today, especially at the end of the game.
It's a great away win against a very tough team. It seems that this is just the beginning of our project this year. With the great energy of our handball players we succeeded this time, and a big thank you to all our fans who supported us in Romania!
In the end, I think that my excellent performance is not even important. I'm only sorry that we lost this kind of game again, by one goal difference. It must be hard to bear it and continue into the new week when you know that you were there at every moment of the game and then things like that happen. I honestly think that in some moments we lack a little experience, but I have the feeling that it is getting better from game to game. I can only congratulate all my teammates and I can say that I am very happy and proud because we are a great team and we stick together. We always support each other in everything, so I think this is a good way to continue in the next games
It was a really hard game and a tough fight. Of course we have our fingers crossed for Crina and we hope it isn't a bad injury. I think we showed today what we are made of, because it was really, really tough in the end and I am really happy for the points because Podravka played a really good game today.
First of all I think we faced a good team. I know they have had some troubles before the season, but I really think they stand together and played a good match. We struggled in defence most of the game and sometimes the timing in attack wasn't good enough and we are still a little bit behind there. But we were able to win and that is the most important thing.
I think both teams played a good match. I am very happy how my team performed and fought through the game and they showed how good they can be. A lot of things happened during the summer and we will try to build something new again and this game was a good step.
First of all, I would like to say that our goalkeepers have shown a crazy performance in the last two weekends. Last time Bundsen and Sako put on a great performance in Ludwigsburg, and now Toft and Solberg. We played a great match, although thanks to Silje's saves, I wasn't completely satisfied with the use of one-on-one situations. There were also easier saves, but Sandra defended in the best moments, thereby taking away the self confidence of the shooting players. I am very happy that the opposing team has two great goalkeepers that I have coached before.
We have problems, but they are unimportant, because it doesn't help to think about them. My players are working hard, we did everything to play as well as possible and I am proud of the team for what they showed. The fans can be happy to see such a parade of goalies on both sides, from Silje Solberg for us and Sandra Toft for Györ. I think we had many opportunities to make the match even closer. However, Györ's defence is full of star players, it is difficult to break them down, especially since we do not have a left-handed player. We had our chances, we have to keep working so that we can take advantage of them later.
We knew they were a tough opponent. We changed our defence quite quickly to switch to a five-man defence. We believed in it the whole match. We made a hold-up tonight by winning by a goal in overtime. The girls went to get the match and that's what's good. We're continuing and continuing our momentum.
I'm very disappointed. The ends of matches are very important. We had the opportunity to win today. We made a lot of mistakes in the second half and Katharina Filter played a very good match.
